Lip Paint Metallic (£6.99)
Not for the fainthearted, these metallic liquid lipsticks are packed full of colour and glitter to make you really stand out this party season. With three shades to choose from (red, purple-grey and golden peach,) these dry down to leave a kiss and drink-proof finish that can either be added over the top of your chosen lipstick or worn alone for a statement look. I definitely find these work better when a couple of coats are added to lips and left to dry between, but they're so easy to use there's no reason why you can't experiment and use them as eyeshadows, highlighters or to create a touch of face art too! They're probably a step too far for me and my style, but I know loads of beauty enthusiasts that would lap all three up in an instant.
Cheryl’s Lip Kit (£9.99)
Undoubtedly their attempt to have a piece of the Kylie Lip Kit pie, these duos have been 'designed' by Cheryl (i.e. she picked the colours) to offer up a flawless on-trend matte pout. Combining the Infallible Lip Liner and matching Infallible Matte Liquid Lip Paint, the kits are available in three shades that are definitely hot for Autumn: Paint it Burgundy, Peach or Greige. Although the products themselves aren't new, the way they've been packed and pulled together as something different is - and the fact that you save around £3.00 from buying the two products individually is a bonus too. The liner is smooth and strongly pigmented, providing a great way to line the lip and create a strong look, and well worth a look whether you're into these kits or not; the lip paints are also strongly pigmented, although the downside is the brush (in my opinion) is messy and quite hard to use, while the formula takes a long time to dry and isn't particularly matte. If you love your lipstick to be totally free from shine and last all day then these won't be for you, but they're super comfortable to wear and create a look that's great for the season.
Balmain Lipstick (£12.99)
This hotly anticipated collaboration with fashion brand Balmain launched into stores some time ago, but if you haven't had a play about with the shades then there's still a chance to do so. With twelve different colours that have been designed with three types of women in mind, there are some really strong and unique shades that you wouldn't anticipate from L'Oreal and really do help them to be more relevant to the modern (and younger) woman. With tones that include blue, khaki, brown, grey alongside more wearable reds and nudes, they not only look beautiful in their pack but they really push the boundaries of what we expect from high street makeup brands. The formula is the same L'Oreal lipstick texture (and scent) we've been used to forever: light, well pigmented but not super strong, with added shimmer to flatter most skin tones. It's a great foray into something new, whether you're feeling super daring or a little bit experimental.
What do you think of these new lip launches from L'Oreal? Are you happy to see them trying something new, or do you think they should focus on more classic shades and textures?
