THE ULTIMATE TRANSITIONAL FLOATY DRESS
One of the biggest struggles during those September-November months is the fact you're always either too hot or too cold; the wavering temperatures mean you never know whether you need a cover-up or could do without, or whether the choice of outfit may seem appropriate at 8am but by midday you're cursing your decisions. This floaty layered dress from Elvi is perfect, thanks to the lining and lightweight material that keeps you covered up but also cool. (I can't stand sweaty material!) It was great for one of those days when the weather could go either way, and looks as good with a leather jacket and slip-ons as it does with a pair of strappy sandals. I adore the frill detail over the shoulders which is super flattering and really on-trend for next season, while the shape has lots of room for curves; Elvi starts at a S14 (I'm wearing a S16 and it was really roomy) and it's so lovely to see a brand cater for boobs and bum without turning everything into a sack. You can check out the rest of their range on ASOS! A cute pair of black tassel earrings just offset the dress frills perfectly too. (Yes, I'm totally late to that party I know...)
THE SASSY SUNNIES & SLIP-ONS
Autumnal sunglasses are still a must, thanks to the low sun and often beautifully lit days we have during the transition into winter, but often I find my usual summer styles unsuited to my outfit - keeping it darker, classic in shape and chunky is my personal preference, so when I saw these studded cat-eye beauties in the Kate Spade boutique I couldn't resist. I adore a toirtoiseshell pair of specs, but the black stud detail and slightly vintage shape are what really floated my boat; a worthwhile investment that will see me through many more seasons I'm sure. Additionally these bold yellow slip-on loafers from River Island are my new fave things; who would've thought a mustard tone would go with as much as it does, but they instantly sass up an outfit and go with everything from denim to floaty skirts and everything in-between. The giant bows keep them less 'granny' and more 'go get 'em', plus they're super comfy for walking around in when you can't quite bring yourself to pop on a boot.
THE BOLD YET CLASSIC ACCESSORIES
I'm such an over accessoriser. A great watch, a fab piece of jewellery and a statement bag can make or break a look for me, so I'm always picking up little bits that I know will bring everything together. My new 'busy bees' watch from Olivia Burton is such a dream (thanks to the rose gold detailing and light grey strap,) but it's the little floaty bees inside the face that make it so unique; they actually jiggle about and move within the watch to make it something truly special. I adore their styles and how they bridge the gap between elegant and feminine without being overtly girlie - this is possibly my favourite so far and a serious contender for the wedding day! Matched with my usual rose gold Pandora (and new heart charm that delicately dangles!) my hands look and feel fabulous... Especially when they're carrying the classic Mulberry Del Rey bag. I bought this about four years ago and it's one of those that I always forget I have until I'm rummaging around for the perfect bag that I know I have somewhere - and it usually fits the bill and goes with everything! Although it's not available anymore, you can get similar styles online or find it via a re-selling site.

The dress is gorgeous, and I really appreciate your commentary on the sizing too! I'd be nervous to even look at something like that because I'd be concerned it wouldn't cover the boobs. Another one for the Hayley-sponsored wishlist, then...

ReplyDeleteThank you! I may or may not have bought a stash of new jumpers already in anticipation... Ooops.
DeleteOh wow, I love everything about this look. I really like the mustard yellow mules(and that color has been in this year)which adds a bit of pop to the outfit along with the motorcycle jacket. I'm really in love with the glasses though.
ReplyDeleteAren't they dreamy?!
