OOTD: Blown Away In Soma Bay

With the weather not quite knowing if it's coming or going at the moment, I'm really wishing I was back on the tropical coast of Soma Bay. It's always hard coming from such an incredible location and climate back into the rainy arms of England; it's blooming chilly and slightly depressing at the moment, so here's hoping the sunshine will make an appearance again soon. With that in mind, it's a good opportunity to look back on one of my fave outfits of recent weeks which I wore the first night of our trip. Although we were able to catch a beautiful pink sunset, the wind was hilariously strong which led to most of the pictures being of me with a mouthful of hair or trying not to flash my knickers. Who knew this part of the world could get so windy?!

THE CHICHI DRESS
You may have noticed by now that I do love a good dress, and ChiChi London are a brand I've dabbled in a few times before when I've been in need of something a bit fancy. The quality is fab, the prices reasonable and the cuts extremely flattering - especially as they transition from the standard sizes into plus with ease (and without hiking up the cost.) This is the 'Megs' dress and features a drop hem on the back, alongside subtle lace underlining to help create some structure. I could've done with the size below (they're known for not being super generous with their boob area, but this was actually plenty roomy!) but it was still super comfortable and the perfect style to dress either up or down. I really love the print, touching on being feminine and elegant without too girlie; the shades of blue and red ensure the floral pattern is sophisticated and timeless, whilst flattering every skin tone.

THE SUNSHINE ACCESSORIES
When packing for a trip abroad, it's always tricky to downsize and choose accessories that go with practically anything. I opted for my current fave golden bow sandals from ASOS (that are only £14.00!) and a gold clutch bag that I picked up at the Karen Millen store in Bicester Village. (I really need a trip back soon.) Metallics are so universal and really go with every shade or look, while being a touch more interesting than black or white; any excuse to go a bit sparkly eh! The sunglasses are a bargain at £3.00 from Primark, because I know I always trash my sunnies when away; I really loved the shape and pattern around the frame, although they did only last a day before the arm broke off and they had to be thrown out. (Sob.) But better them than my Burberrys!

I hope you like the look - and the pink sky as the sun was setting!

  1. Oh my word, that DRESS! I'd never have pegged it for a ChiChi, I always imagine them as being a bit more... froofy. Which isn't a problem, I have a couple of their skirts and adore them.

You look absolutely fabulous. Loving your recent fashion content.

    1. Thanks so much! Many of them are a bit 'froofy' but they also have some stunning dresses that are very wearable and don't have an inch of froof!

  3. I haven't tried anything from ChiChi due to worries about the boob sizing issue! Hopefully there'll be more dresses coming with a bit more room there!

    1. Most of them are ok - just be prepared for your boobs to be high or squished in a little in certain styles!
