SPONSORED FEATURE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH YES TO
I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, but looking after your skin is the most important step in any beauty regime - no matter your age, ethnicity, skin type or problem areas. Maintaining a great canvas and ensuring it has all the nourishment and care it needs will ensure it's consistently radiant; the better your complexion the better your makeup will sit, while effective skin maintenance will ensure the ageing process is a gentle one. What's also important to remember is that we shouldn't be overloading our skin with an excessive amount of products or ingredients, as this can cause issues in itself; together this can leave us baffled and in need of a little direction. Yes To is a brand that I consistently recommend, simply because it's both affordable and effective. Their no frills approach to skincare is somewhat refreshing in a market saturated with complex ingredients and ridiculous claims - they focus simply on putting good stuff in and taking as much of the not so nice stuff out.The newest addition to the brand that can practically do no wrong is Yes To Cotton, a range packed with Cotton Extract and Cottonseed Oil to protect and soften skin whilst creating a barrier that helps safeguard against irritation. The Cotton Extract nourishes, conditions, and protects sensitive skin, whilst the Cottonseed oil is an oil known for its protective and skin softening qualities. Cotton has long been used in clothing because it provides a soft, natural fiber that’s gentle to skin; however, cotton and its derivatives are high in vitamin E, antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, which are all anti-inflammatory. This secret skincare benefit helps to soothe skin and calm redness, perfect for those of us with easily irritated or sensitive skin. Designed for ultra-sensitive and allergy-prone skin, all the Yes To Cotton products are 95% natural (or more), Leaping Bunny certified, vegan and formulated without parabens, SLS or silicones. (*Claps, whoops and high-fives*)
Including a micellar water, moisturiser, sheet mask, makeup remover pads and facial wipes, the range is a great starting point for those that just need a base line of effective products they know they can rely on every day - and the packaging is pretty cute too! What's also interesting is that (in a market first apparently!) the facial wipes and makeup remover pads are made in-part from recycled cotton t-shirts; this helps to save energy and water, preserve land and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which is a rather great bonus for the world around us on top of what's great for our skin. If you want the lowdown on the products, then here are my top line thoughts on each in turn...
Yes To Cotton Comforting Facial Wipes (£3.99)
Although I'm not a fan of facial wipes, there are instances when you need to reach for them and they're better than nothing. In that instance (basically when you're traveling or it's 2am!) then these are a great way to remove surface level makeup without drying out skin. They're highly saturated which means they don't require a tonne of effort and damaging scrubbing movements to wipe away makeup, plus they're enriched with Cotton Extract and Cottonseed Oil to soothe and soften as you use them. (Remember they're only ever a first step or for emergency makeup removal though...)
Yes To Cotton Comforting Eye Makeup Remover Pads (£6.99)
Possibly my favourite of the range, these little pads effectively soak off eye makeup (including mascara) without causing irritation or stinging. Because they're so very saturated to keep them moist until the very last pad, I do find I need to dab them on a towel before using so the excess doesn't get in my eye - but they're fab for quick removal before you go in with a deeper cleanse. I've got super sensitive eyes and I loved everything about these.
Yes To Cotton Comforting Micellar Cleansing Water (£6.99)
Everyone should have a bottle of micellar water in their bathroom; they work by grabbing on to dirt and oil, lifting it away from the surface without upsetting the balance of or drying out skin. Yes To have created a version that's as gentle as you'd expect, but popped in the additional ingredients of Cotton Extract and Cottonseed Oil to soothe and soften as you remove. I particularly like the pump action top, which ensures you only use the amount you require, plus it smells incredibly refreshing. Great to use before a deeper cleanse or as a last step to remove any last traces of product.
Yes To Cotton Comforting Facial Moisturiser (£12.99)
Undoubtedly the hero of the range, this moisturiser requires pumping to activate the antioxidant-rich formula and vacuum-delivery system; it takes a while, but stick with it! With a light and airy texture that's perfect for layering over your other skincare products both morning and night, it helps to gently nourish without overloading. It's a great all-round moisturiser that you can rely on, no matter your skin type or age, and its affordability makes it a winner too.
Yes To Cotton Comforting Paper Mask (£3.49)
Sheet masks are still incredibly popular and I can't see the interest fading any time soon - mainly because they're an affordable luxury and an effective way to quickly inject your skin with goodness. Yes To's version is again incredibly saturated with the hydrating and soothing formula, which after ten minutes helps to soothe and calm skin while infusing much needed moisture. I used this while in Egypt and it was just what I needed: a cooling and soothing few minutes out from my day, even if I did look a bit ridic during the process.
I've been putting these to the test and can honestly say they're really effective at removing makeup without leaving skin dry, tight or irritated; in fact they helped to soothe and nourish my skin while in the Egyptian heat, which really is a test and a half! I even put them to the 'cotton t-shirt test' and can report back that my tee was left mark free when I took it off post-cleanse... Because nobody wants mascara marks on their top or their pillow right? If you're on the look out for a new makeup remover or gentle soothing products, then these are a great way to spend a few quid - especially as we step into summer and don't want to be faffing with a tonne of ingredients, layers and textures.
It's a YES from me; is it a YES from you?

It's incredibly light and an all-round good cream; it's all anyone needs really, paired with a more targeted serum and SPF.
